A head-on collision left two people dead and four others seriously injured in southern Wake County near Willow Spring on Sunday afternoon October 15. The collision was reported at roughly 2:15 p.m. along Old Stage Road just north of Barbour Store Road, which is east of Fuquay Varina.
a 2022 GMC Acadia was driving south on Old Stage Road while a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban was heading north on the same road. The driver of the Acadia drove left of center and into the path of the Suburban, causing a head-on collision.
53-year-old Angela Long Hinton, who was driving the Acadia, passed away at WakeMed. Hinton was the only person in the Acadia. 25-year-old Gilberto Villagomez Galvan, the driver of the Suburban, also passed away at WakeMed. Villagomez had four passengers in his SUV. All passengers were taken to WakeMed for treatment, some of them with serious injuries.
All passengers of both SUVs had seat belts on and speed was not believed to be a factor. Old Stage Road was closed for about three hours. Several first responders were dispatched to the scene including five EMS units. The road reopened just after 4:45 p.m.
