A city bus driver has been cited after striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk near downtown Asheville on Tuesday night November 7. Officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at approximately 8:30 p.m.
An Asheville Rides Transit (ART) bus was attempting to turn left onto Hilliard Avenue from Biltmore Avenue when it hit a pedestrian who was walking in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was transported to Mission Hospital with a serious injury to his leg.
The ART bus driver was charged with Unsafe Movement for failing to yield the right of way while the pedestrian was lawfully crossing in a crosswalk.
