A person was killed early this morning just prior to 5 am Thursday, August 24th when someone was riding their bicycle on Lexington County Road and was hit by a car and SUV. It occurred in the Gaston area at the intersection of US 321 and Main Street per South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Corporal William Bennett.
He further stated that the two vehicles, a 2018 Nissan sedan and 2003 GMC SUV were heading north on Main Street. As they came near to the intersection with Woodtrail Drive, both the sedan and SUV ran over the bicycle as the rider was crossing Main Street.
The person on the bicycle was transported to Lexington Medical Center where he perished from the injuries resulting from the accident. Neither driver was injured in the incident. The incident is under investigation at this time and any potential charges that may stem from the accident are still to be determined.
