Two men passed away during a police chase early Saturday morning on September 23rd in Asheville. According to the Asheville Police Department, an officer tried to initiate a traffic stop on a 2021 Dodge Challenger when a chase ensued. Officers said the car matched the description of a vehicle occupied by a suspect fleeing the scene of an assault that occurred downtown.
Officers lost sight of the car while trying to stop it. During the search, police eventually found the vehicle down an embankment on Hilliard Avenue. Two people were trapped in the car.
Police identified the driver as 32-year-old Darriann Chantel Waters and the passenger as 30-year-old Maurice Dijon Jones. Police attempted to give aid but they were both pronounced dead at the scene.
At The Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor, our hearts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Darriann and Maurice who suffered this tragic loss of life. We share our condolences for this devastating car accident.
