A man was killed in a collision in south Charlotte on Tuesday evening September 19th after another driver was under the influence. The crash occurred in the 9200 block of Park Road, near Birnen Drive, at roughly 10:45 p.m.
The initial investigation showed that Wash was driving north on Park Road and making a left turn onto Birnen Drive. The Jeep was traveling south on Park Road and hit Wash’s car at a high rate of speed. The Jeep Grand Cherokee had heavy front-end damage and the Toyota Camry had extensive passenger-side damage. The driver of the Camry,43-year-old Joseph Richard Wash, died at the scene.
Investigators believe alcohol use and excessive speed were factors in the crash. Police identified the driver of the Jeep as 43-year-old Lamar Antonie Redfern. He was found to be driving under the influence. Warrants for Redfern’s arrest seek to charge him with felony death by motor vehicle and reckless driving. He will be taken into custody upon his release from the hospital.
At The Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor, our hearts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of both Joseph who suffered this tragic loss of life. We also extend our prayers to Lamar who is facing injuries and wish them a healthy recovery. We share our condolences for this devastating car accident.
