The Laurens County Coroner’s Office has identified a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle while he was attempting to cross the road. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the collision occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 28 on SC 14 at Back Street, less than two miles from Gray Court.

A Kia sedan was headed west on SC 14 when it collided with the victim who was crossing SC 14. The pedestrian has been identified as 37-year-old Michael Joshua Ballengee, from Enoree. The driver of the Kia sedan was not injured but Ballengee was pronounced dead at the scene.
