An accident on Interstate 40 West claimed the life of a Morganton man on Saturday, October 7th. Around noon, 46-year-old Wesley Edward Mallory collided with a stationary international tractor-trailer near Exit 146 for Stamey Farm Road.
The initial investigation showed that Mallory, driving a 2018 Ford Fiesta, failed to slow down adequately before the collision. Mallory was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver sustained injuries from the crash. Authorities confirmed that all parties involved had seatbelts on, and impairment wasn’t a factor.
No charges will be pursued. Following the accident, I-40 West remained closed for approximately two hours. Troopers are continuing their investigation into the incident.
At The Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor, our hearts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Wesley who suffered this tragic loss of life. We also extend our prayers to the person facing injuries and wish them a healthy recovery. We share our condolences for this devastating car accident.
