I-85 Multiple Vehicle Semi-Truck Accident in Cleveland County Claims Life of Harrisburg Woman, Florida Truck Driver Charged, Others Injured

A multi-car accident in Cleveland County claimed the life of a 70-year-old Harrisburg woman early Tuesday morning on August 2nd.

The four-vehicle accident occurred north of the Dixon School Road exit according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The accident began as a semi-truck was slowing in its approach to the lane closure tied to the upcoming construction zone. At this time, a Kia and Tesla neared the construction zone as well.

As this occurred, the semi collided with the Kia, and then the Kia hit the Tesla. The Kia collided with the semi-truck and in the final impact, both vehicles came to a stop in the southbound lane on I-85. According to NCSHP, in the course of the wreck, the Tesla drove off the roadway toward the left and struck the guard rail. Another semi-truck veered off the right side of the road, ultimately coming to a stop with the truck partly on the right side of the I-85 southbound lane.

In the course of the multi-vehicle accident, the Harrisburg woman driving the Kia, identified as Arlene Bulanda, lost her life at the scene of the crash. Emergency medical specialists took the three occupants of the Tesla to Atrium Cleveland Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Neither semi-truck driver was injured in the incident. One truck driver, Alexander Feldman of Hallandale, FL was taken into custody by NCSHP and charged with misdemeanor death by a motor vehicle at the scene.

The team at The Law Offices of Jason E Taylor is deeply saddened to learn of this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends who lost a loved one, along with those hurt in this fatal truck accident in Cleveland County.
