A woman passed away following a crash on Saturday night December 2 in east Charlotte. The collision occurred on Pence Road near Viola Drive at approximately 9 p.m.
Two vehicles, a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis and a 2017 Honda CRV, were involved in the accident. The initial investigation showed the Mercury was driving north on Pence Road when it crossed the centerline and hit the Honda head-on. The driver of the Honda, 74-year-old Ann Stewart Bryan passed away in the hospital due to her injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Mercury, 24-year-old Daizah Breon Gibson, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. She was charged with reckless driving and driving left of center. A felony death by motor vehicle warrant has also been obtained against her.
