A man passed away in an accident Friday evening, August 25th. He was struck and killed while attempting to cross a road in Columbia. The pedestrian has been identified as 68-year-old Jacob Roy Jones Jr. a Columbia resident.
At approximately 9:49 p.m. Friday evening, a 2012 Hyundai sedan was driving north on Bush River Road. The driver then collided with Jones near the intersection of Ivanhoe Drive, according to a statement released by Highway Patrol.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol. The driver of the Hyundai, who was the only occupant of the sedan, did not sustain any injuries. It has not been determined whether the driver will face charges in the collision. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation into the collision and death is ongoing.
