One person passed away after a three-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday evening, August 27th. At approximately 9:15 p.m., three vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of NC 42 Highway and Johnston Road.
A white Honda CRV crossed the double yellow lines attempting to pass a vehicle in front of them. Simultaneously, a silver Ford Fusion was taking a right onto NC 42 from Johnston Road.
The driver of the Honda collided with a gray Toyota Corolla. The driver of the Toyota, 42-year-old Ian Harris Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the other drivers have yet to be released as well as if they sustained any injuries. It is unknown at this time if anyone has been charged in the accident.
