Police are investigating a fatal crash on US 1 in Cary, NC Saturday morning on August 12th, that involved three vehicles. Around 3:30 a.m., officers received a call to US 1 southbound near US 64 about a three-vehicle crash.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been released. The other drivers were taken to the hospital and their medical status is currently unknown.

Police said they remained at the scene for multiple hours to investigate the crash and determine the cause. They said all southbound lanes of US 1 were being moved onto US 64 while they investigated. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the crash scene cleared at 7:11 a.m.

Police plan to provide more information as it becomes available.
