A man was killed Thursday, August 10th in a crash. The man who has passed away is 57-year-old Jeffrey Turman Walker of Statesville.
On Thursday around 3:00 p.m., the incident happened at Old Mountain Road near Marie Duke Road in Iredell County. A 1996 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Old Mountain Road, crossed the median, and crashed head-on with a 2014 Ford Explorer that was headed southbound, causing the Silverado to catch on fire.
The driver of the Silverado, Jeffrey Turman Walker, was trapped in the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The driver of the Explorer a Mooresville resident, was not transported to the hospital but still had minor injuries. A passenger was transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital, with minor injuries.
The initial investigation does not indicate impairment or speed to be a contributing factor, although the investigation is ongoing. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed for roughly two hours.
