A Student from Montgomery County Schools is dead following an accident in Montgomery County. The wreck occurred on Saturday evening December 23 at roughly 7:40 p.m. on N.C. Highway 134. The collision was reportedly the result of a vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Detavious Legrande, of Mt. Gilead, fleeing from a State Highway Patrolman, who was attempting to stop Legrande.
The student has been identified as Reagan Blackmon. There was also a passenger in the vehicle, her boyfriend Thomas Maness. Legrande hit the vehicle they were in. Maness has undergone surgery for multiple broken bones. Legrande was driving an orange Camaro and was seen earlier in the day revving the vehicle, on Julius Chambers Boulevard in Mt. Gilead. Warrants have been issued for 22-year-old Detavious Legrande of Mt. Gilead in the vehicular death of Reagan Blackmon.
Legrande is being charged for driving while license revoked, driving left of center, speeding, failure to stop for lights and siren, reckless driving, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and second-degree murder.
