One person passed away while assisting a motorcyclist on Sweeten Creek Road on Wednesday night, October 18th. The incident occurred at roughly 8:30 p.m. near the interchange at Interstate 40. The road was shut down in both directions in that area for several hours following the accident but has reopened as of early Thursday morning.
The motorcyclist had wrecked and was in the middle turn lane on Sweeten Creek. A driver, 46-year-old Jason Matthew Perry saw him trying to get his motorcycle up and stopped to help. Perry and the motorcyclist were hit by a tow truck that was traveling north on Sweeten Creek. Perry was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist was checked out by emergency personnel and is going to be okay.
