A hit-and-run in south Charlotte led to a police chase that ended in Harrisburg on Tuesday, August 15th.
It began when a license plate reader got notice of a stolen gray Kia SUV in the Hickory Grove division. The driver of the car refused to stop after an officer attempted to pull it over. The driver and passenger took off, driving into an apartment complex near Farm Pond Lane where they crashed into a person. MEDIC said the victim was hit near Four Seasons Lane and had minor injuries.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department continued to follow the SUV on the ground while also tracking it from a helicopter as it drove into Cabarrus County. Agencies in Cabarrus County pursued the SUV before it crashed on Main Street and Highway 49 in Harrisburg.
The driver and passenger were arrested at the scene and have been charged with felony hit and run. Officials said more charges may be coming.
