One person has lost their life after an incident late Saturday night on October 14 in east Charlotte. The incident happened at the intersection of Rosehaven Drive and Central Avenue in east Charlotte at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Once officers arrived at the scene they found a 2012 Lexus RX350 and a seriously injured pedestrian in the road. The pedestrian has been identified as 34-year-old Arnoldo Mendez Perez. Perez was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries. Officials say that Perez was struck in the 4800 block of Central Avenue near Rosehaven Drive. The driver of the Lexus, a 25-year-old man, was driving west on Central Avenue towards Rosehaven Drive. Perez was crossing Central Avenue when the front of the Lexus hit Perez on his left side in the left travel lane.
Mariano de Jesus Mendez Perez said his brother was on his way home from the store and this is a devastating loss for their family, especially his 11-year-old son, who is now left without a father.
