A man from Hendersonville passed away early Monday morning on October 30th after a hit-and-run accident on U.S. 176 near the Cason Builders Supply Co. First responders came to the accident at roughly 7:04 a.m.
The victim of the hit-and-run has been identified as Dustin Byrnside from Hendersonville. He was on foot when he was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The pick-up truck fled the scene after hitting Byrnside. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Investigators identified the driver of the Ford as Jason Ryan Blackwell of East Flat Rock. Blackwell was later located at his home and charged with felony hit and run, driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, and reckless driving. He was being held Monday in Henderson County’s jail.
Traffic on the highway was diverted for a time while troopers investigated the accident.
