A multi-vehicle collision left one person dead and 7 injured on Thursday afternoon November 30 in north Richland County. The accident happened at roughly 5:36 p.m. on Parklane Road at the intersection of Crestbrook Road, just before the I-277 interchange.
Six vehicles were involved in the incident:
Vehicle 1 was a 2003 Mercury with a driver only, Vehicle 2 was a 2011 Nissan Rogue with driver, plus 2 occupants – 1 person dead, 2 in hospital, Vehicle 3 was a 2010 Mercedes Benz with driver, plus 2 occupants – all 3 hospitalized, Vehicle 4 was a 2013 Nissan Altima with driver only, hospitalized, Vehicle 5 was a 2008 Buick with a driver only, hospitalized, Vehicle 6 is unknown.
At the time of the accident, Vehicles 1 and 5 were traveling west on Parklane while Vehicles 2, 3, 4, and 6 were traveling east on Parklane.
The accident was caused by Vehicle 1 when the driver of that vehicle hit all of the other vehicles.
The investigation is still ongoing. The identities of the drivers and passengers involved have not been released.
