One person has passed away and two others were injured Saturday, August 19th in a head-on crash in Lexington County. 49-year-old, Valerie Renee Dimick a Lexington resident, was a passenger who died in the accident. The two-vehicle crash occurred around 4 p.m.

Dimick’s husband was driving a 2006 Saab south on Fish Hatchery Road in Lexington. A 2007 Chevrolet van, driven by a Pelion resident, was driving north on the road when it went over the center line and hit the Saab head-on. The Dimicks and the Chevy driver were taken to Lexington Medical Center. Valerie Dimick passed away at the hospital. Dimick’s husband was in stable condition, while the Chevy driver suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Information on why the Chevy driver veered into oncoming traffic is currently not available, but the collision remains under investigation.
