A couple was killed on Thursday, December 15 in a wreck involving an Aiken County school bus. The victims have been identified as 37-year-old Christopher Register, and his wife, 29-year-old Rachel Register. They were in a Toyota Corolla that slammed into an Aiken County School District bus at Rushton and Wrights Mill roads.
At the time of the crash three people were on the bus, the driver and a bus monitor, as well as a middle school student, the district said. The student was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
The 2018 Toyota Corolla that was carrying the Registers was traveling north on Ruston Road when it hit the bus that was traveling east on Wrights Mill. Troopers said both occupants of the Corolla were pronounced dead at the scene.
